In 1996, at a group of artists exhibition held in Paris, Syrian poet Adonis introduced Korean artist myonghi Kang to Dominique de Villepin, the former French Prime Minister, when he was Secretary General of the presidential palace of the Elysee Palace. Jiang Mingji, who is indifferent and low-key, has a poetic understanding of nature, but maintains a certain degree of alienation. De Villepin appreciated her works very much and commented: "art was bred in Mingji's brush and abides by the beauty of the world like an oracle." "I know Dominic more like a poet than a politician," Jiang said Out of the same love for art and poetry, the two became close friends at first sight.

Since then, de Villepin and his son have maintained a close friendship with Jiang Mingji“ Minkie is like family to me "She uses art to express her philosophy and teaches me to be faithful to my feelings, not to analyze every element of an artistic work," Arthur de Villepin, de Villepin's son, told 21st century business reporter

After many years, de Villepin retired from politics and founded Villepin gallery with his son in Hong Kong, China. From May 17 to October, Villepin Gallery held an artist solo exhibition "Gui Zhen" for Jiang Mingji. "We named the exhibition" Guizhen "to remind the audience to go back to the origin of human beings. Due to the continuous impact of the epidemic, some people have to be separated from their families and in a state of loneliness, but Mingji's art finds peace and energy for our soul. " He stressed: "this exhibition aims to build an idyllic and tranquil spiritual sanctuary in the fast-paced urban life of Hong Kong, bridge the gap between nature and urban life, and encourage people to return to nature. In the process of spiritual reconnection, people will become stronger. " A few days ago, Jiang Mingji was interviewed by the 21st century economic reporter, talking about the origin of her painting and the mental process of her creation.

Wandering painters

It becomes a lively urban street view and a magnificent moment interwoven by the rising and falling of nature. With Jiang's participation in more exhibitions in France, her works and talents have been appreciated by many artists, poets and writers, and a deep friendship between them has been established. Zhao Wuji, Piotr Kowalski, Gilles ailaud and others are among them.

In 1947, Jiang Mingji was born in Daegu, South Korea. As a child, Jiang Mingji felt the inner peace and tranquility from the appreciation of nature. Therefore, she was always diligent in examining her relationship with nature. As a child, she liked painting. When she grew up, she naturally embarked on the road of learning art. In 1972, she immigrated to France, where she studied French and continued to study fine arts.

Later, she and her husband, setaik Yim, moved to the northwest of Paris, opened a studio near the place Clichy and moved to the Royal River pier in the 1980s. Years of immersion in Paris, the capital of art, inspired Jiang Mingji's creative inspiration. Her subjects gradually changed from her native land to seek creative inspiration. Later, she often carried her own painting tools to explore everywhere, leaving her own travel footprints from the Gobi desert to the Patagonian glacier in South America. After returning to the studio, she used a large canvas to depict the vast scenery and deep memories she had seen during her journey. Under her dreamlike brush strokes, the complicated world seems to have returned to the appearance of Hongmeng undecided and chaotic beginning.

Flowing style

After 50 years of creative time, through the inspiration of painting, poetry and philosophy, Jiang Mingji is still looking for new media and forms, just to paint the most striking appearance of nature on the canvas. Her painting style is constantly changing with the situation of life, and the theme of her creation is echoed between reality and memory.

From 1960s to 1970s, Jiang Mingji used figurative strokes to depict the image of city and nature; In the 1980s, inspired by the French landscape, her style gradually changed from image description to abstract expression; Since the 1990s, with her professional and solid painting techniques, combined with abstract painting forms, she has formed a quiet and quiet personal style, presenting the ever-changing nature and Zen atmosphere.

In this exhibition, the gallery displays a series of Jiang Mingji's paintings with the theme of nature. Through the colors and strokes full of tranquil breath, it creates a kind of charming and intimate temperament, which aims to awaken the inseparable relationship between human beings and nature, and then makes the viewer produce the concept of "nature and human being as one". "The development of modern science and technology has made us live in a comfortable and safe urban environment, but people's hearts miss the closeness to the natural world and are eager to seek peace in the hustle and bustle of urban life," Pan Yade explained to the 21st century economic reporter. And big Nature is the answer to all this. "

21st century: when did you start painting? What is the greatest pleasure painting brings to you?

Jiang Mingji: I started painting when I was 3 years old. I like to draw everything around me without thinking - it's like a gift to me. When I was a child, I had many opportunities to get close to nature. I was very interested and curious about everything in the world, so I would carefully observe and describe what I saw. But at that time, I was too young to discover the subtle connection between myself and nature. I only thought that it had always fascinated me.

At that time, I was an introverted and thoughtful child, living in my own world. I kept questioning and questioning myself, but only through painting can I get some answers, and let myself escape from loneliness and the crowd. When painting with natural themes, it is like trying to discover the nature of nature and explore the hidden dimensions of nature.

21st century: can you tell me about your relationship with nature?

Jiang Mingji: I think my role is to help people see what they can't see: nature and the life around them. I have been to Mongolia, Antarctica, Gobi desert travel, and also like to go to the same place several times, because I need to interpret the picture perfectly. As long as I'm not satisfied with my painting, I'll go back to the same place the next year to finish my painting. And every time I come back from these beautiful nature, I will bring some natural "little keepsakes" to share with my friends in the city.

21st century: how do you develop your own style?

Jiang Mingji: my painting style has developed gradually with the passage of time. I painted everything I saw, and the people I met by chance in my memory, in my culture and in my life. In my opinion, it is the responsibility of artists to pass on their stories and memories to the next generation.

21st century: your works look very peaceful and healing. Do you think there is a passionate and powerful side to it?

Jiang Mingji: Yes. Whenever I draw, I always feel like I'm trying my best to finish the picture - tired but full. The struggle of life has been reconciled in my paintings. I look at the abyss of my heart and show it on the canvas. This process is full of energy.

21st century: we know that you are still a poet. Can you share with us a poem that best interprets your philosophical thoughts on life and nature?

Jiang Mingji: suddenly / the lightning is about to gallop, and the rainstorm will be noted - the sky is dim / the sun is warm, everything is green - the spring scenery is still approaching / the door is closed, it is sinking and lying down until the evening of the sun / the sound of the bell, and the windows of the white wall pavilion are singing harmoniously.

(Instantaneous/Almost the lightning, almost the rain: dark, dark sky/Like warmth, like freshness: calm, calm spring/Closed door, foolishly sleeps until dusk./Muffled ringing of a bell, walls and windows vibrate)
