Video Conference Of The Board Of Directors Of International Textile Manufacturers Federation Held In Beijing

On August 31, the video conference of the board of directors of the International Federation of textile manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as "IFN") was held at 18:00 Beijing time. Members of the board of directors and former chairman of IFN attended the meeting.

The meeting was presided over by sun Ruizhe, chairman of the International Textile Federation and President of China Textile Industry Federation.

In his opening speech, sun Ruizhe said that at present, the global economy is still under the influence of a series of uncertain factors, including: the persistent new crown pneumonia epidemic, extreme weather, food crisis, geopolitical crisis and economic growth slowdown. The world needs to strengthen solidarity, rebuild confidence, and strive to promote the recovery and stability of the global economy.

Sun Ruizhe pointed out that at present, the industry should focus on three key areas:

First, we should strengthen international cooperation in fighting the epidemic and jointly promote economic recovery.

Last year's supply chain disruption prompted some governments to take measures to make "manufacturing return" part of the stimulus package, which could be counterproductive, because cross-border trade networks and investment can reduce costs, promote mutual learning and product innovation.

At present, efforts should be made to improve the environment of competition and cooperation, actively eliminate trade barriers and discriminatory laws and regulations, optimize decision-making mechanism and procurement process, strengthen global cooperation and multilateral coordination, and jointly safeguard global supply chain and industry security.

Second, pursue inclusive and sustainable development.

The outbreak of new crown pneumonia has a profound impact on the global response to climate change and promotes the sustainable development agenda. On the one hand, enterprises are integrating sustainability into their operations and products by setting internal carbon emission reduction targets, developing innovative green products, advocating sustainability standards and integrating into circular economy. On the other hand, government departments are trying to restart economic activities in a green way. CSR can play a key role in addressing climate change for our industry.

Third, we should fully rely on scientific and technological innovation.

The new coronal pneumonia epidemic has objectively accelerated the use of digital tools and big data means. Virtual technology and multi-channel shared communication enable us to hold online or offline meetings like today's - effectively interact and keep in touch with each other across geographical constraints. Changing customer needs, more online purchases, moving assets to the cloud, and increasing use of artificial intelligence in business decisions are reshaping every industry. These changes will be throughout the epidemic period and will continue, which should be paid close attention to.

While digital technology is bringing useful innovation and improving our lives, it also brings new challenges in business ethics, society, economy and law. We must do more to improve digital trust and accountability in the digital world.

At the meeting, sun Ruizhe also introduced the current operation of China's textile industry in the first half of the year, and made a positive response to the concerns and doubts of the participants on China's industrial export, foreign investment, capacity expansion and the rise of international transportation costs, etc., and at the same time, he made a consensus to boost the confidence and strength of the global textile industry's recovery.
