Export Orders For Garment Industry In Pakistan

Due to some unfavorable factors, such as energy crisis, withdrawing incentives and not rebating, the garment industry in Pakistan has lost about 800 million US dollars in export orders since the beginning of July 1, 2011.


Shehzad Salim Salim, President of the Pakistan garment garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), said that the remaining time in the current fiscal year may still lose 25% of export orders.


Mr. Shehzad said that the current energy crisis, the Pakistan National Bank (SBP) did not refund the tax, the government abolished incentives, these unfavorable factors led to the rapid decline of the Pakistan textile industry, the textile industry suffered the most blow.


In the absence of a strong economic policy, Mr. Shehzad said, Pakistan's clothing sector will lose its export market share.


He urged the government to push the EU Member States to give Pakistan preferential treatment (GSP) + preferential treatment, which will ensure preferential tariffs for Pakistan's textile industry, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Pakistan's textile industry in overseas markets.
