More than 30 years ago, the cotton growing area of Jiangsu Province was expanded year by year with the cotton growing area in the inland of Jiangsu Province.

Since 2015, great changes have taken place in Yancheng area of Jiangsu Province, and the cotton planting area has decreased year by year. By 2019, the cotton planting mode in Yancheng area of Jiangsu Province has gradually changed from integrated production to scattered fragmentation production. The original cotton planting province is now "declining". Due to the shortage of production resources, the purchasing market of lint has gradually become cold. Due to the scarcity of raw materials and the shortage of operating funds, the local ginning plants have closed down and transformed one after another. The remaining textile enterprises can only purchase the raw materials by going to the villages and households by cotton traders, which increases the cost and sometimes fails to meet the standard.

The main reasons for the decline of cotton yield in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province are as follows: first, weather factors. It is understood that due to the local plum rain season and the length of summer accompanied by typhoon and other adverse weather, cotton is seriously affected by natural disasters, cotton farmers' income is low, and cotton planting cost is increased; second, local cotton planting species are not the main varieties, resulting in the late cotton sales not smooth. So far, local cotton farmers have been replanting corn, wheat, rice and other crops.

Due to the reduction of cotton production in the province, many local ginning plants have closed down for transformation. In addition, affected by the domestic epidemic situation at the beginning of 2020, textile enterprises are facing reshuffle again. So far, there are few local textile enterprises left. A person in charge of a textile enterprise told reporters that there were more than 20 local textile factories, and now there are only 3-4 textile factories. It is understood that the only few textile mills are basically small and medium-sized enterprises with 50000-60000 spindles, which are mainly sold in China and mainly produce 40s yarn.

The head of another 50000 spindle spinning enterprise told the reporter that the enterprise mainly produces medium and high-end yarns. Affected by the foreign epidemic situation, the export of yarn was seriously hindered, but the domestic sales were good. Although it declined compared with the same period last year, it still maintained 80% of the start-up rate. It is understood that the enterprise's raw material inventory is about 25 days, yarn inventory is about 35 days. During this period, Xinjiang cotton enterprises did not take the lead in purchasing high-end cotton.
